The latest DVD in the series of
Scooby Do. If your kids liked Monster of Mexico and Ghoul School to
mention just a few then they will love this! My ds had a friend for a
sleepover last night so they offered to review this for me! They said it
was very funny with a good storyline, it's set in a castle which is a
magic school and they have to battle against the mystical creature a
Griffin . There were a couple of spooky bits and said they jumped when a
Banshee came wailing along!
There is also a special feature on it which tells you how to make and
use puppets which they found interesting.

Review: Michael Jackson sadly passed away before he got to
perform his grueling London dates. Fortunately for the fans
footage was filmed of rehersals. This clever film links everything
together perfectly into a very special dvd. I did see this at the
cinema which was amazing but to watch it again on DVD was spectacular.
All the little extras that have been given with the bonus disc gives you
that extra insight into what was going on for this tour.
The work that
goes into building up a tour of this stature was amazing and such a
shame for everyone involved that it didnt happen in the end.
Having this film as part of the memorabilia is of course something every
Michael Jackson fan will desperately wish to own. Even if you
arent a fan it is still amazing viewing.

Sony
Pictures Animation’s smash hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
serves up a hilarious, mouth-watering food storm of epic portions on
Blu-ray and DVD on January 25, 2010, from Sony Pictures Home
Entertainment. Based on the beloved bestselling children’s book, the CG
animated film features the all-star voice talents of Bill Hader (Night
At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian), Anna Faris (House
Bunny, Scary Movie franchise), James Caan (Get Smart,
TV’s “Las Vegas”), Andy Samberg (TV’s “SNL”), Mr. T (Rocky 3,
TV’s “The A-Team”), and Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “How I Met Your
Mother”) in the story of Flint, an outcast inventor who creates a
machine that rains down food on his hungry town.
When Flint
Lockwood's (Bill Hader) latest contraption accidentally destroys the
town square and rockets up into the clouds, he thinks his inventing
career is over. Then, something amazing happens as delicious
cheeseburgers start raining from the sky. His machine actually works!
But when people greedily ask for more and more food, the machine starts
to run amok, unleashing spaghetti tornadoes and giant meatballs that
threaten the world! Now it's up to Flint with the help of weather girl
Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) and Steve, his talking monkey assistant, to find
some way to shut down the machine before the world is covered in
super-sized meatballs!
Totz2teens Review: Fun, Family film. Brilliant.
A pleasure to watch with humour for adults and children. Flint is
an inventor who doesnt seem to hit the jackpot until he invents a
machine to produce food for the town. This starts of fun but as
greed sets in, disaster strikes. Can Flint rectify his damage???
This film has touching moments such as the relationship between Flint
and his father. The actual animation is superb. The whole
family enjoyed watching this film and will definately be watching it
again and again.

A
Challenge for Robin Hood - PG - £15.99
A classic adventure from Hammer Studios, A Challenge
for Robin Hood finds all the characters from the legend present in
this tale of fratricide and ruthless family double dealing. Jealous that
his inheritance has passed instead to his virtuous Cousin Robin De
Courtenay (Barrie Ingham), the vicious Roger (Peter Blythe) kills his
brother and frames Robin for the murder. Finding himself outlawed by
Roger’s accomplice and arch-manipulator, the crafty Sheriff of
Nottingham (John Arnatt), Robin bands together the homeless and
repressed into a noble band who prey upon the rich, give to the poor and
fight against the tyranny of the Norman overlords.
Totz2teens Review:
One of those
films that you can all sit down and watch. My husband got very
engrossed in watching this and it very much appealed to him. It is
obviously dated as it was originally released over 40 years ago but it
was super to watch a properly charming version of a Robin Hood story.
There is lots of action and peril which keep you on the edge of your
seat and it was a good film to remind you of times gone by when harmless
action films with no swearing happened.

Mad
Monster Party -U £17.99
A stop motion animated parody of the cult horror movies
of the 50’s and 60’s! From animators Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin,
creators of family favourites The Hobbit and Little Drummer
Boy, and featuring the voice of horror maestro Boris Karloff, the
story unfolds as baron Frankenstein alls together all his creations and
cohorts including The Werewolf, the Mummy, Dracula, The invisible Man
and many more, to one final bash where he’ll name his successor, but it
may not be who they think. Tim Burton has cited it as a major
inspiration for his own Corpse Bride, Vincent and
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Totz2teens Review: I watched this with my children and
I wasnt sure they would understand it or enjoy it but they did.
Its amazing to think that it was originally released such a long time
ago - the animation is brilliant and you can see that so many of the
newer children and adult animated entertainment has developed from this
type of film. The puppets are beautifully designed and made.
The voices are amazing - Some of the names of the voice artists are
Boris Karloff, Allen Swift, Phyllis Diller and Gale Garnett. Its
really a pleasure to watch.

Shorts
is set in the suburb of Black Falls, where all the houses look the same
and everyone works for BLACK BOX Unlimited Worldwide Industries
Incorporated, whose Mr. Black’s BLACK BOX is the ultimate communication
and do-it-all gadget that’s sweeping the nation. Other than keeping his
parents employed, however, Mr. Black’s BLACK BOX has done nothing for
11-year-old Toe Thompson, who just wants to make a few friends…until a
mysterious rainbow-coloured rock falls from the sky, hits him in the
head and changes everything. The Rainbow Rock does Mr. Black’s BLACK
BOX one better: it grants wishes to anyone who holds it. Before long,
wishes-gone-wrong have left the neighbourhood swarming with tiny
spaceships, crocodile armies, giant boogers…and outrageous magical
mayhem around every corner. But it’s not until the grown-ups get their
hands on the Rock that the trouble really starts. Now Toe and his
newfound friends must join forces to save their town from itself,
discovering along the way that what you wish for is not always what you
want.Totz2teens
Review: Shorts is a film about a boy called Toe who finds a
Rainbow wishing rock. It contains mixed chapters of the journey
all in different orders. He calls them Short Chapters. Every one
live in Black Falls and all the parents work at Black Box Industries.
They make a box that can do everything. All the adults end up
becoming power hungry which drains the wishing rock of its powers with
disastrous consequences. The main character is a young boy who
doesn't have many friends and wants to have some. The chapters
were fun and it was different to watch a film this way rather than one
long story. The film is directed by the same director that did Spy
Kids and carrys the same humour and fun family viewing. Ideal for
young families.

Bandslam
- PG
When gifted singer-songwriter
Charlotte Banks asks new kid in town Will Burton to manage her fledgling
rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head
against her egotistical ex-boyfriend Ben at the biggest even of the
year, a battle of the bands.
Against all odds, their band
develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest.
Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sa5m, who plays a mean guitar
and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it's time for the
band to make a choice: do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand
up for what they believe in?
Totz2teens Review: A quirky film which is perfect for the
whole family. The film is about a young lad called Will who finds
a 'popular' girl and they develop a band. The music is great -
nice and rocky and the band grow into themselves and end up going to the
'Bandslam'. Lots of disasters along the way which help make the
film an enjoyable one to watch over and over again.

Harry Potter and the
Half Blood Prince - 12
Wizards and muggles beware! No one
is safe as Harry Potter returns for his sixth year at Hogwarts in
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince™.
Emboldened by the return of Lord
Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and
wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was.
Harry suspects that new dangers may lie within the castle, but
Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that
he knows is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover a vital
key to unlocking Voldemort's defenses--critical information known only
to Hogwarts' former Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn. With that in
mind, Dumbledore manipulates his old colleague into returning to his
previous post with promises of more money, a bigger office...and the
chance to teach the famous Harry Potter.
Meanwhile, the students are under
attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across
the ramparts. Harry's long friendship with Ginny Weasley is growing into
something deeper, but standing in the way is Ginny's boyfriend, Dean
Thomas, not to mention her big brother Ron. But Ron's got romantic
entanglements of his own to worry about, with Lavender Brown lavishing
her affections on him, leaving Hermione simmering with jealousy yet
determined not to show her feelings. And then a box of love potion-laced
chocolates ends up in the wrong hands and changes everything.
As romance blossoms, one student
remains aloof with far more important matters on his mind. He is
determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but
tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Totz2teens Review: The
infamous Harry Potter returns for another exciting adventure in Harry
Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I had seen this film at the
cinema and was quite interested to see how it would be in the home
environment. I find that the films are quite darkly filmed so to
give an air of mystery and drama this worked absolutely fine in the
lounge too which was pleasing. The actors have all grown into
their parts well and I feel that each film ensues a better step in the
acting. Having not read the book previously I was not aware of
where the story would lead and a did feel that I needed a few bits
explaining to me from someone who had read the book although I still
thoroughly enjoyed watching the film. My family all sat excitedly
watching Harry and his pals work towards a better world. I love
seeing the well known faces playing such rich and interesting
characters. The extra DVD was really interesting to
watch and now I have 2 children that really fancy going to Orlando!!!!!
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince doesnt fail to provide an
entertaining couple of hours.

Moon
- 15
Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with the
mining company, Lunar, for whom he has been a faithful employee for
three long years. His home has been Sarang, a moon base where he has
spent his days alone mining Helium 3, the precious gas that holds the
key to solving Earth's energy crisis. Isolated and determined, Sam has
followed the rules obediently and his time on the moon has been
enlightening but uneventful. He does his job mechanically and spends
most of his time dreaming of his imminent return to earth, his wife and
young daughter. Finally he will have someone to talk to beyond “Gerty”,
the base’s well-intentioned, but rather uncomplicated computer.
Two weeks shy of his departure from Sarang, Sam starts seeing and
hearing things and when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he
discovers that Lunar has its own plans for replacing him and that the
new recruit is eerily familiar. Now Sam has to confront the discovery
that the life he has created may not be his own.
Totz2teens Review: An interesting film which we all watched
together. Sam lives and works on a moon base alone except for a
computer robot. He lives for the day he will return to his
wife and daughter once his contract finishes. However after an
accident out in the mining area it becomes apparent that all is not as
it seems. This was an intriguing watch with humour and raw emotion
that held it all together well. This isnt normally 'my kind'
of film - I usually let them watch this sort of film on their own but
this was such a curious film that you continue to watch waiting for the
next little surprise.

History was made...by these guys? Zed (Jack Black) and Oh
(Michael Cera) are cavemen who stumble out of the mountains into an epic
journey of biblical proportions. One’s a bumbling hunter, the other’s a
gentle gatherer; together, they become unlikely participants in
history’s most pivotal moments. Directed and co-written by comedy legend
Harold Ramis (Groundhog
Day, Caddyshack, Analyze This),
YEAR ONE
is rude, crude,
wildly absurd, deliciously tasteless and laugh-out-loud funny!
Totz2teens Review: Although this is a 15 rated film I
allowed my slightly younger son watch this as well as my older one.
They both thoroughly enjoyed Year One. They are both complete Jack
Black fans anyway and this film did not fail them. It is a typical
Jack Black style humour so you know you are going to be offered a kind
of silly but tasteless array of fun. Fantastic! We all
thought the story line was brilliant. We found the way that they
addressed the guy that was a bit down on his luck ie he burned down his
village! was so funny. Great fIlm. Totz2teens

distraught young widow, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and clones the form
of her dead husband. The alien convinces Jenny to drive him to Arizona,
explaining that if he isn't picked up by his mothership in three days,
he'll die. Hot on their trail are government agents, intent on capturing
the alien, dead or alive. En route, Starman demonstrates the power of
universal love, while Jenny rediscovers her human feelings for passion.
Totz2teens Review: Jeff Bridges stars in this superb film.
It hits the note for women and men by using the alien action but also
the heartfelt story of this aliens torment. It was a real pleasure

Paul Blart: Mall Cop -

Biggest Comedy of The Year
Starring Emmy® Nominee Kevin James
Available on Blu-ray™ High-Def and DVD 10th August, 2009
Prepare for side-splitting laughter and heart-pumping action when Sony
Pictures Home Entertainment releases Paul Blart: Mall Cop
on high definition Blu-ray Disc and DVD on 10 August, 2009. The £5.4
million box office hit from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions is
packed with deleted scenes, hilarious outtakes, featurettes on the
making of the movie and a commentary.
With a heart that won’t quit, a stomach that won’t stop gurgling and a
self-sworn oath to protect his turf, he’s Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
Mild-mannered Paul Blart (Kevin James, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and
Larry,
Hitch,TV’s “The King of
Queens”) has always had huge dreams of becoming a State Trooper. Until
then, he patrols the local mall as a security guard. With his closely
cropped moustache, personal transporter and gung-ho attitude, only Blart
seems to take his job seriously. All of that changes when a team of
thugs raid the mall and take hostages. Untrained, unarmed and a
super-size target, it’s up to Blart to save the day.
Trailer -
watch here
Totz2teens Review:
Paul Blart is a wannabee Cop but his hyperglycemia means he cant do
it but can be a Mall Cop. He is a really sweet guy but isnt well
liked. Falls in love with a woman on a stall in the mall and helps
rescue everyone when the mall is subject to a heist.
We all enjoyed
watching this film, I found it touching and funny at the same time.
The way that Paul finds the strength to deal with the baddies is very
funny - in a slapstick way which of course always manages a laugh.
The film has a slight
Christmassy feel to it as a bit of thanksgiving and decorations are
themed in the film. However I didnt feel it was wrong watching it
at any time of the year but will definately put it on the list for
autumn !!

Review:
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 was reviewed by myself and my
daughter aged 12. The premise of the story is that there are 4 girls
who have grown up but are connected by some denim jeans that appear to have
some powers. They rotate who has them and it is believed their bond
and the jeans help them through hard times. The story is about
friendship and the ups and downs of life. This is a really nice film
to watch and does make you think about the friends and relationships that
may have some distance between them but still when the chips are down we all
pull together.
The characters are
all believable and the film allows you to develop a liking for each
character within the storyline.
I dont think you
will have to have seen the first film to watch this one although I had
already seen the 1st one previously.
My daughter enjoyed
watching the film too and liked the ending too.

Alice is a typical young girl who has aspirations in life. She
dreams of being popular, pretty and confident. What really happens
is that she just makes a bit of a mess of everything she attempts.
As the story progresses we see Alice take on a singing audition.
We see what she believes everyone is seeing and then we see the reality.
BIG DIFFERENCE. This is an amusing story with a real sentiment
behind it and the whole film comes over as a likeable tale of a young
woman growing up. I felt that this could have been a film of a tv
programme as it seemed to have that air about it. My Pre teen and
teen both enjoyed watching it and said that that Alice upside down was a
great film typical of ones that they like to watch. I read that as
it is typical of the genre which of course means it is playsafe for any
young girl that you may want to buy this for which is a good
recommendation.
It was
certainly watchable for an adult too so no one will be bored watching
this with their child which is again a good thing.
Alice upside
down is a touching story and I am happy to recommend it for you to
watch.

IGOR
Pull the switch and help Igor become this year’s inventor
extraordinaire! Don’t get the hump this half-term and have fun hanging
out with the noble science assistant experimenting on some mad-cap lab
antics to out manoeuvre the nasty nemesis, in this tale of re-invention.
Momentum Pictures unveils IGOR
on DVD 2 February 2009.
This hilarious
animated comedy follows lowly scientist’s assistant Igor (JOHN CUSACK),
an inventor pushing weird science to the extreme hoping to make a
difference to the lives of all the subservient science hunchbacks.
Bubbling with humour and sparky electric energy plus the addition of the
unlikeliest of hero’s, IGOR
has the perfect formula of pop, bang and fizzle for all the family this
half term.
Bright and
boldly directed by ANTHONY LEONDIS (LILO & STITCH 2), Igor is a
fun-filled, action-packed comedy celebrating the underdog. The stellar
voice cast includes JOHN CUSACK (HIGH FIDELITY), EDDIE IZZARD
(THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN), JOHN CLEESE (FAWLTY
TOWERS), SEAN HAYES (WILL & GRACE) and STEVE BUSCEMI
(MONSTERS INC.).
The Story
In
the land of Malaria, you are either a somebody or a nobody. The biggest
somebodys are the evil scientists and the nobodies are their loyal
hunchback assistants. But one unlikely inventor is about to change
everything….
Meet Igor, a talented hunchback who’s determined to prove his worth at
the annual Evil Science Fair. With help from his wise-cracking
sidekicks Scamper (BUSCEMI), a grumpy lab rabbit, and the not so
brainy Brain (HAYES), he plans to create the greatest invention
the world has ever seen and win first prize. However the fiendish Dr
Schadenfreude (IZZARD) is also making plans: to steal Igor's
crazy creation and take over all Malaria. Can Igor and friends stop him
and truly save the day?
IGOR Released by Momentum Pictures on
2 February 2009 Certificate: PG RRP:£17.99 Running Time: 118

Totz2teens Member Review: Igor - pronounded eegor (I kept
getting wrong with my children telling me the right way!!!) Igor
is an inventor who wants to win a prize at the Evil Science Fair.
He makes a wonderful monster however it turns out to be kind. The
story follows their tale of how they try to turn Eva evil. As with
many of the animated films these days there is a good blast of humour to
keep the youngest and oldest family members watching. A wide range
of celebrity voices are used within the film and I did find myself
thinking who is that and was pleased when I got it right. Igor is
a super film and well worth getting for the kids to watch.

Fly me to the moon
£17.99 out now
FLY ME TO THE MOON
is
the first ever computer
animated film designed, created and produced from first frame,
exclusively for the 3D experience. In 1969, three astronauts dared to
go where no man had gone before; the moon. FLY ME TO THE MOON
combines the Apollo 11 mission with a twist involving three tween-aged
flies who go along on an incredible space adventure. The film
introduces new generations to space exploration and the historic moment
when the world was united for this awe-inspiring achievement.

I was very excited about our opportunity to review Fly me to the
moon as the 3D sounds great fun. We were a little disappointed.
Out of 4 of us, 2 found it very hard to wear the glasses and my other
child got a headache. So we switched to the non 3D version of the
film and it was successful. During our attempts with the 3D we
found this hilariously funny especially the dragonfly that flies out you
which made us all feel like ducking and reaching out for it. The
film itself has a great story line and was highly entertaining.
The animation was brilliant and realistic too (if you can have realistic
talking creatures!!!!! Very impressive film and great viewing for
all little space travellers.
