George's Secret Key to the
Universe by Lucy & Stephen Hawking
ISBN: 9780552559584 £6.99
Take a rollercoaster ride through the vastness of space and, in the midst of
an exciting adventure, discover the mysteries of physics, science and the
universe with George, his new friends next door - the scientist Eric and his
daughter, Annie - and a super-intelligent computer called Cosmos, which can
take them to the edge of a black hole and back again. Or can it? And who
else would like to get their hands on Cosmos? This title is a funny and
hugely informative romp through space, time and the universe.
Totz2teens Review:
George goes on adventures in space and
solves problems, all the while learning about and using elementary
astrophysics. His parents are 'hippies' and don't believe in much
of technology whilst George has a thirst for this knowledge.
Georges adventures are certainly interesting and the pictures are very
nice too. A few nagging doubts over the story but for a children's
book it was just fine.

Pip:The Story of Olive by Kim Kane
ISBN: 9780385613309 £12.99
Pip and Olive sat on the sand in the front of the row of
mirrors. Olive snuck peaks at Pip. Pip stared at Olive.
They were so extraordinarily identical that Olive couldn't tell Arthur from
Martha, as Mog would say.... The two girls were peas in a pod - they even
distorted in the mirror in exactly the same manner.
"We're pretty similiar," said Olive after a while/
"Yes," said Pip, "I expect we're twins"
Olive is an only child. She lives by the sea in a ramshackle old house
with her mother, Mog, successful, busy and hardly ever as home. Olive
is very pale and very quiet and she doesn't quite fit in. But she has
a best friend, Mathilda, and that's what matters
And then mathilda decides to be someone else's best friend
Totz2teens Member Review: A charmingly, delightful story. I
think this will become a little classic as its not time specific really. I
loved the characters and the contrast of Olive and Pip was so interesting.
It is such a warm, funny story about finding yourself. Definitely
recommended.

Before I Die
by Jenny Downham
ISBN: 9781862304871 £6.99
. . . it's a novel that won't
fail to touch those who read it, and despite the melancholy subject
matter it manages to be hugely life-affirming. A book that will make you
happy to be alive. It's
really going to happen. They said it would, but this is quicker than
anyone thought.
Everyone has to die. We all know it.
With only a few months of life left, sixteen-year-old Tessa knows it
better than most.
She's made a list though - ten things she wants to do before she dies.
Number one is sex. Starting tonight.
But getting what you want isn't easy. And getting what you want doesn't
always give you what you need. And sometimes the most unexpected things
become important.
Uplifting, life-affirming, joyous - this extraordinary novel celebrates
what it is to be alive by confronting what it's really like to die.
Totz2teens Member Review: From the title it was obvious this book
was going to have an emotional pull. Yes it does have that pull
but it is an amazingly uplifting book too. And yes I did shed a
tear or two.

he turned and waved before getting on. But after half an hour it landed

luck. Despite their prickly relationship, they overcome their

to find their cousin. And ultimately it comes down to Ted, whose brain
works in its own very unique way, to find the key to the mystery. This
is an unputdownable spine-tingling thriller - a race against time.
Totz2teens Member Review: Gripped from start to finish. An excellent read about the mystery
of how Salim disappeared whilst on the London Eye. Ted & Kat decide
that they should assist in finding him and follow clues to find their
cousin. Why and who has taken him? I would recommend this book
for boys and girls and I know they wont be disappointed. The
characters were easy to gel with and the scenes are set really well.
An excellent mystery.

Noah's Ark by Rod Campbell
ISBN: 978037032659 £12.99
Noah's Ark is the retelling of the
classic biblical tale, with a contemporary environmental message for
modern readers. It is a board book that comes in a handy fold up carry
case, and also doubles up as a fantastic ark play set!
Inside you will find a set of animal
figures that stand up in pairs and a colourful wall frieze.
Totz2teens Member Review: This is truly a charming and
delightful book. It would make a fantastic present for any little one.
The set comes in an ark shaped case with a lovely compartment for the
story book and a bag with the animals in. We played for ages with
the set and it has excellent play value to it. Noah's Ark is
obviously a traditional story and this doesn't fail in telling it in an
easy way for children to understand.
I particularly liked the section at the
back explaining that some animals were now endangered in our world
today. The animals in the bag in this set are such fun and
seeing my little one with all the animals lined up was really adorable
too.

Cookie
by Jacqueline Wilson
ISBN: 9780385613972 £12.99
Beauty Cookson is no
beauty. She's a plain, timid girl surrounded by
super-confident, snooty girls at school. Worse than
the teasing in the playground, though, is the
unpredictable criticism from her father. Frequently
berated for breaking any of Dad's hyper-fussy house
rules, as well as for her lack of looks, confidence
and friends, Beauty lives in uneasy fear whenever
Dad's at home. Her pretty, sweet mum is equally
subject to Dad's tirades. Eventually, after an
unbearable birthday party and a very real fear that
Dad's temper is out of control, Mum and Beauty run
away. Very soon Mum and Beauty find themselves in an
idyllic seaside resort where their new-found freedom
and a moment of culinary inspiration give them a
hobby, an income and even a new nickname for Beauty.
Soon all Beauty's dreams come true - and she
deserves it! A charming, page-turning and
heart-warming story from this beloved author.
