Grow Organic Eat Organic
ISBN:  9781874735915  £4.99
A very special activity book with step-by-step guidance on growing vegetables, fruit and flowers in harmony with the natural world. Colourful contents include preparing the soil, planting, composting, and dealing with garden friends and enemies.

Totz2teens Member Review:  Organic seems to be the latest buzz word at the moment so I was keen to encourage my children along the path too.   I had to be careful with space too as not having a big garden has meant the need to be a bit inventive.  We cheated a little with the peppers and got them from Grandma who already grows organically.  We planted them dutifully in a pot in the garden but by next day sadly some naughty bug had had a good chomp of them and destroyed all bar one.  We are right at the beginning of our organic garden but hopefully with a little enthusiasm and hard work we may well be eating something home grown by the end of summer.  I think we need to start simple so some herbs and potatoes.  Watch this space.  The book is very informative and helpful.  Everything is explained in an easy way for children and adults to understand.  The pictures are helpful too.

Shadows in the Bedroom by Susan Martineau
ISBN:  9781905710225    £4.99
You know those things that go bump in the night? Well, it's nothing scary, it's just science, not looking where it's going. BUT, if you look closely, you'll see science everywhere. Especially in your bedroom...

Totz2teens Member Review:  We found this book great fun.  We spent the evening in torch light having fun making shadow shapes and scary monsters.  We have also performed many of the other experiments in the book which we loved as it explains why the result happens which makes it easier to explain to the child. This is definately a book that we will bring out often.

Having a little boy that loves to draw this book was a welcome addition to our house.  He sat down for ages with his friend learning how to draw little monsters, big monsters, giants and more.  I would definately recommend this for any child.  I also think it would be useful for taking away with you on holiday or as a present for birthdays ect too.
